My 1985 Mustang GT - Throttle Cable Bracket

The stock 1985 Mustang GT used a small stamped throttle cable that bolted to the intake manifold.  The stock bracket worked fine when I used the stock intake manifold or the Edelbrock RPM Performer intake manifold.

When I switched to the Weiand X-Celerator intake manifold the bracket spacing was not longer correct.  On the Weiand X-Celerator intake manifold the mounting bosses for the throttle cable mount were moved relative to the carb.  Due to this change in location the throttle did not open fully and I had to come up with a new throttle cable bracket.

I liked the "trick" aluminum race parts that I could buy from the aftermarket, but I refused to spend $60 on a throttle cable bracket. So I made my own using some flat steel, my MIG welder, a nut, cutting blades/discs, and red paint. First I cut the main plate out of a piece of flat stock and then I welded on the gussets and the nut for the cable hold down bolt. Lastly, I painted the thing red. It fits and works great. Best of all it will work on any intake I use because it mounts on the carb hold down bolts, not a special boss on the intake.
