My 1985 Mustang GT - Hood Scoop |

|
I added a 1983 Mustang GT rear facing hood scoop to my 1985 Mustang GT. I placed the scoop as far rearward as possible to get the maximum ram air effect. I had to remove the stock under hood bracing from the center section of the hood as well as drill the mounting holes to mount the scoop. I used a die grinder with a cut-off wheel to remove the bracing. I used a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade to cut the hole in the hood. I then welded the holes in the factory air cleaner base that the “dual snorkels” originally used to feed air to the engine. I also welded additional metal around the perimeter of the air cleaner base to bring it up to a uniform distance from the hood. Some weather-stripping then sealed off the air intake to the hood. |
